I had to take early maternity leave at 60% pay, with no guaranteed job after my leave

I had HG during first trimester and very high blood pressure during second trimester. My OB-Gyn instructed me to take it easy for my health and the health of my baby. When I told my manager, he told me that I had to get it in writing and take an early maternity leave (at 60% pay, with no guaranteed job after my leave since I would be out longer than the FMLA allowed 12 weeks), or get fired. I took
the leave so that I wouldn’t lose my health insurance.
